Etiquette for Zoom Assemblies (SAGA)
The COVID-19 pandemic and requisite social distancing has made it necessary to move our assemblies to an online format, using the Zoom videoconferencing platform. While we welcome the chance to ‘see’ you all virtually and to share with our members, the online format brings with it some challenges. Below is a loose set of guidelines for participation in a virtual Sunday Assembly.
•When you join the meeting, please ensure that your microphone is muted. This will likely be done automatically, but please be sure to check. Unwanted sounds and chatter is distracting to the group
•Please do your best to refrain from chatter. If you want to say something to a friend or neighbor, consider using the chat function in Zoom
•Be aware that if your camera is on, everyone can see you and your surroundings. It’s a good idea to verify whether your camera is presenting video to the group
•If you have a question or comment during the assembly, please try to utilize the ‘Raise Hand’ function in Zoom. This will alert the moderator that you’d like to be heard and you’ll be invited to talk. The moderator will lower your hand once you’ve asked your question.
•If you’re not using the Zoom app, and are calling in from a phone line, please wait until an appropriate time to ask a question, possibly also identifying yourself (Hi! This is Jim from Ocala. I’d like to add something here..”)
•As best you can, keep your comments or questions as brief as possible. We hopefully will have a good number of participants, and keeping your contributions brief will ensure that everyone has time to share.
